I wish the steps on my pedometer told the whole story today.
Today wasn’t about fitness.
It was about friction.
I spent the day clearing brush off my property: dragging, chopping, and hauling.
Every muscle protested.
My grip burned.
My back ached.
And what hit me hardest wasn’t the physical pain; it was the reminder that progress never moves in a straight line.
Last week, I deadlifted 505 for 2.
This week, I could barely grind out 445 for 1.
At first, I was frustrated. But somewhere between the sweat and the soreness, it clicked:
Strength isn’t built in the numbers. It’s built on the struggle between them.
That’s the part we forget.
The invisible grind between the “PR posts” and the “before-and-after” pictures.
The mornings when the weight feels heavier for no reason.
The days when motivation doesn’t show up, but you do anyway.
So as I stood there staring at another pile of brush, I realized:
Life should be hard.
If it’s not, you’re not doing it right.
Because every rep, every task, every test…
It isn’t meant to make life easier.
It’s meant to make you stronger.
